Highly rated Russian cruiserweight prospect Alexey Egorov got back to action after six months out of the ring to defeat dangerous Ukrainian journeyman Sergey Radchenko over ten rounds in Ekaterinburg, Russia. The show was the first ever, promoted by Roy Jones Jr. in Russia – conjointly with the RCC Boxing Promotions.

Egorov, 28, is listed as the WBA Gold champion at 200 lb, albeit BoxRec doesn’t list him winning it in the ring. Egorov is also ranked #12 by the WBC.

Meanwhile, his Ukrainian opponent with a less-than-impressive fight record was known for his toughness, best presented in a bout versus former-to-be-future champion Krzysztof Glowacki, whom he has all but stopped during their non-title clash in February 2018.

This time, Egorov didn’t allow his opponent to warm up, immediately decking him in the first. As always, Radchenko showed (immediate) toughness by getting up at two and bringing his all into Egorov’s face. However, the gap in abilities was too wide to overcome, as the ranked boxer easily adjusted to the crude counterpart and continued with solid domination from that point on.

There were some good moments for Egorov in later rounds, but Radchenko survived through the beating, losing widely on scorecards: 100-89 – across the boards. He is 7-5, 2 KOs, now. Egorov elevates his record to solid 10-0, 7 KOs.

He's now aiming at the WBA regular champion Arsen Goulamirian (25-0, 17 KOs) from Armenia by way of France next. The latter defends against fellow unbeaten and WBA #8 ranked Constantin Bejenaru of Moldova (14-0, 4 KOs) on Dec. 28 in Marseille.

In a co-main event, Russia-based Uzbek native Muhammad Shekhov (7-0, 3 KOs) overcame tough-as-nails Nicaraguan super bantamweight Aron Juarez (15-7-3, 4 KOs) over ten hard-fought rounds to a unanimous decision.

Also, in a battle of undefeated opponents, Ruslan Kamilov (8-0-1, 4 KOs) avenged his only blemish by stopping draw specialist Evgueny Smirnov (13-1-3, 3 KOs).
