Alexey Egorov could be contending for a world title belt sooner than later.

The unbeaten cruiserweight will face Vasil Ducar in a 10-round bout Thursday night at the Pyramide in Kazan, Russia.

Egorov (10-0, 7 knockouts), who resides in Obinsk, Russia, last fought on December 7, dropping Serhiy Radchenko once en route to a unanimous decision victory. Egorov notched an impressive victory on March 23, defeating South Africa's Thomas Oosthuizen by unanimous decision.

The 28-year-old scored his best win to date as a pro in July 2018, stopping former world title challenger Lateef Kayode after round 6.

His recent accomplishments have earned him a No. 11 ranking by the WBC.

With the way, Egorov has passed every test thus far as a pro, he could face stiffer opposition later this year that could culminate into something more significant.

"Alexey Egorov is a perspective boxer who will fight for a world title in the next year," manager Vadim Kornilov told BoxingScene earlier this week. "He is being moved very fast and we look forward to (getting) him the opportunity he has been asking for."

Ducar (8-2-1, 7 KOs), who resides in Brno in the Czech Republic, lost by unanimous decision to Herve Lofidi in his last bout on November 16. His other notable fight occurred on June 8, when he lost by unanimous decision to contender Kevin Lerena.

Ali Izmailov (2-0, 1 KO) will square off against Sergei Ekimov (18-1, 9 KOs) in an eight-round bout between Russian light heavyweights.
