Eduardo “Rocky” Hernandez (33-1) picked up his second win of the year earlier this month when he stopped the previously unbeaten Jorge Mata Cuellar in 5 rounds in Hermosillo. Mexico. With the victory, Hernandez retained his WBC international silver super featherweight title.

The 24-year-old didn’t like the way he started out in the fight but found his groove in the third round. He would end up dropping Cuellar in the 5th round to secure the knockout victory.

“It was a good win.  I felt pressured the first 2 rounds but then my manager went to the corner and told me, ‘Rocky just enjoy your night,’ and that's when it all changed. Now for my next fight I want someone in the top 15.” Hernandez told BoxingScene.com.

The Mexican native has now reeled off 4 consecutive wins via knockout since suffering the only loss of his professional career which took place in 2019 against former world champion Roger Gutierrez.

Hernandez is hoping to return on December 3rd on the Juan Francisco “Gallo” Estrada-Roman “Chocolatito” Gonzalez 3 undercard. He would like nothing more than face Gutierrez in a rematch  or any other top opponent.

“Rocky is a very good fighter and we feel we need to start taking on tougher challenges, I'm talking to Matchroom and we're looking at possibly coming back December 3rd. Rocky told me when we first talked that he wanted his rematch with Roger, so maybe Roger or maybe (Kenichi) Owaga or Samir Ziani. I have to talk to Matchroom but definitely we are looking to step up in competition,” Hernandez’s manager Hector Fernandez de Cordova told BoxingScene.com.
