Edivaldo Ortega got through another tough test as he picked up a unanimous decision victory over experienced Filipino former world champion Drian Francisco before a large and enthusiastic crowd at the Municipal Auditorium of Tijuana.

Ortega (26-1-0, 12 KO's) imposed his conditions from the first round, connected up to five for one and kept the domination of the pace for most of the fight. He knew that the domain was his, that he was dominating the fight and showed the maturity to be patient, conservative and secured the victory without risking too much.

Francisco (29-4-0, 22 KO's) was constantly on the lookout for his opponent, waiting for any errors in his movements and was always ready to release a big shot.

Francisco was often throwing right crosses and left hooks, but he rarely landed.

At the end of the ten rounds of the featherweight contest, the judges scored it 96-94 and two cards of 98-92 for Ortega.

It was a very important win for Ortega, who is listed in the world rankings and is moving in the direction of fighting for a regional championship.

Undefeated, left-hander Carlos Ornelas (19-0, 10 KO's) showed off his boxing, power and precision in picking up a fourth round knockout over the experienced and generally durable Alem Robles (15-12, 6 KO's) , who succumbed to a superior opponent.

Ornelas boxed for the first three rounds, imposing his rhythm and establishing the distance.

In the fourth round, when Ornelas changed the strategy, he threw a powerful and accurate combination of five power shots, with both hands - which caused his opponent to fly backwards, bounce against the ropes and then to the canvas, and that promoted the referee Alberto Ramos to stop the action without the need to apply a count. It was a well-fought and well-deserved win, and one that advances Ornelas' trajectory towards a higher level.
