On September 1 at the Turning Stone Casino in Verona, New York, Puerto Rican puncher Jonathan Gonzalez (15-0, 13 KOs) will face the former junior middleweight champion of the World Boxing Organization (WBO), Ukrainian Sergei "Razor" Dzinziruk (37-1, 24 KOs) in a co-featured televised bout, as part of HBO's Boxing After Dark series, starting at 9:45 pm (Eastern time .)

The hard-hitting Puerto Rican brings an aggressive fighting style. The former Olympian had a record of 132 wins and 18 losses in amateur boxing, and is currently ranked No. 6 by the WBO, No. 8 in the World Boxing Association (WBA) and No. 12 in the WBC (WBC).

"Fighting on HBO is a great opportunity for me and my team. Gary Shaw had promised me a fight on the big stage to perform worldwide. I always give exciting fights to the public and it won't be any different when I face Dzinziruk. My goal is to become world champion," said Gonzalez.

Dzinziruk has other plans. The former champion is undefeated at 154-pounds. His only loss came to pound-for-pound boxer Sergio Martinez at 160-pounds. He defended his WBO world title seven times. He promises to end the unbeaten run of Gonzalez and plans to use that win to get another world title shot.

"It is a fact that I'm undefeated at 154 pounds," said Dzinziruk, and continued: "Gonzalez is a big puncher, but he's never faced a top fighter like me. I'll finish [his] unbeaten [run] and then I'll be in search of a world title and soon I will be world champion."
