Daniel Dubois is not at all interested in a rebuilding tour.

The thrill of his tenth-round knockout win over Jarrell Miller has the former WBA ‘Regular’ heavyweight titlist eager to return to the top level. There was concern about Dubois fighting anyone other than a complete walkover so quickly after a knockout defeat to WBA, IBF and WBO heavyweight titlist Oleksandr Usyk earlier this summer.

One win later, the 26-year-old Londoner feels like he’s ready for the absolute best.

“AJ [Anthony Joshua], all the big boys. AJ, [lineal/WBC heavyweight champion Tyson] Fury, Usyk, rematch. Come on,” Dubois insisted after his December 23 win in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Dubois (20-2, 19KOs) rebounded from a November 2020 knockout defeat to countryman Joe Joyce with four straight knockout wins.

Among the run was a June 2022 knockout victory over then-unbeaten WBA secondary titlist Trevor Bryan to earn his way to a mandatory position for the main title. Dubois fell short versus Usyk (21-0, 14KOs), in a fight where his team and plenty of viewers felt he was cheated out of a fifth-round knockdown, en route to being dropped twice and counted out in the ninth round of their August 26 title fight in Wroclaw, Poland.

Brooklyn’s Miller (26-1-1, 22KOs) proved to be the perfect opponent for Dubois’ first fight after that defeat—unbeaten, name recognition and who talked enough trash to light a fire under Dubois. A completely different fighter was on hand in Riyadh, he insists, than the one who showed up in Poland.

“I had a lot of things going on in my life and in my head that I needed to sort out,” Dubois admitted of his mindset headed into the Usyk fight. [Saturday] was part of that redemption and recovery process. We still had to win and that’s what we did.

“I’ve got a lot of maturing to do. I’m still learning in there. We were scrapping but we came through.”
