Daniel Dubois is ready to present Filip Hrgovic with some ‘Daddy’ issues.

The former secondary WBA heavyweight titlist has unearthed his personality and has been vocal to warn the rest of the division that he wants all the smoke. That level of confidence has been extended to the unbeaten Hrgovic, whom he would love to face as part the next Riyadh Season boxing event.

“Filip Hrgovic, I’m the daddy,” Dubois stated in a video posted to his Instagram channel. “I heard you’ve been calling out everyone else’s name. I can’t hear mine.”

Both boxers were offered the opportunity to appear on the March 8 Anthony Joshua-Francis Ngannou ‘Knockout Chaos’ show at Kingdom Arena in Riyadh. London’s Dubois (20-2, 19KOs) would love to cut to the chase and directly face Croatia’s Hrgovic (17-0, 15KOs) in a bout that would come less than three months after both posted separate wins on the same December 23 show at that same venue.

Hrgovic was given an open layup and took advantage as he blasted out 41-year-old Mark de Mori in just 106 seconds. Dubois was dealt a much tougher assignment on paper but turned it into a career-resurrecting performance in a one-sided, tenth-round knockout of unbeaten Jarrell Miller.

The win came just four months after Dubois suffered a ninth-round knockout defeat to WBA, IBF and WBO heavyweight titlist Oleksandr Usyk (21-0, 14KOs) last August 26 in Wroclaw, Poland. Dubois was the mandatory challenger headed into their title consolidation bout, with Hrgovic next in line as the top-rated IBF contender.

Dubois is currently ranked number five by the same organization, just below Joshua (27-3, 24KOs) and New Zealand’s Joseph Parker (34-3, 23KOs), both of whom already have fights lined up on the March 8 show. Joshua headlines while Parker will face interim WBO titlist Zhilei Zhang (26-1-1, 21KOs).

Regardless of the stakes, Dubois just wants to prove his worth as a top heavyweight contender.

“Are you ready,” Dubois asked of Hrgovic. “Because I’m ready!”
