After several months away, Yuniel Dorticos is making moves for his comeback. The Cuban boxer has already returned to Pedro Roque's gym with his sights set on winning his third cruiserweight title and on potential rematches against the only two men who have beaten him.

Known as the 'Knockout Doctor,' the 35-year-old Dorticos has not fought since he lost to Mairis Briedis in the final bout of the World Boxing Super Series cruiserweight tournament in October 2020.

The other man to beat him, Murat Gassiev, is now competing at heavyweight. And Briedis is heading there too - which leaves cruiserweight wide open for Dorticos.

“We are starting over. I feel well motivated to get back to training and prepare for the fights to come. Possibly a new version of the World Boxing Super Series will be announced again. We're back," Dorticos told George Ebro.

“I think [the division] is ready to see me as champion again. Murat Gassiev moved up to heavyweight. Mairis Briedis is moving to heavyweight. My future is nothing other than to be world champion again. I will be world champion for the third time and then I will look for them all.

“[Gassiev and Briedis] are still on the list. Those rematches are coming, because it's what the fans like and it's something I want too. Who would not interested in avenging a defeat? But the first thing is to have a belt in the division and then we'll see. I feel as strong as ever physically, but the most important thing is mental. I feel so eager to box, like I did before. That motivates me to go back to training.

“[My trainer] is always encouraging me. He tells me that I have everything to become champion again. We've had a long relationship. We know each other very well and I've told him that I will return to the top."
