2012 Fighter of the Year, Nonito "The Filipino Flash" Donaire, Jr., has been an advocate for cleaning up the sport of boxing for a few years now. The jr. featherweight champion is the first boxer to submit himself to 24/7, 365 random blood testing conducted by VADA (Voluntary Anti-Doping Agency), which simply means that an authorized agent can draw and collect his blood and urine at any given time for testing.

Increased talks and suspicions from boxing fans regarding performance enhancing drugs has become an important concern, especially with the sport's brutal nature. In 2012, a few boxers like LaMont Peterson and Andre Berto were caught with illegal substances in their system by VADA, which led to the cancellation of a few big boxing shows.

One name that's been the subject of speculation has been Angel Heredia, strength and conditioning coach to Juan Manuel Marquez. Heredia's checkered past, coupled by Marquez's incredible physique and devastating knockout win over Manny Pacquiao last December, has been the target of many skeptics.

dSource talks to Donaire.

But when another one of Heredia's clients, Mexican boxing legend Jorge Arce, fell victim to Donaire in three rounds a week after the Pacquiao-Marquez fight, the strength and conditioning coach, who also helps Olympic track superstar Usain Bolt, is rumored to be trying to work with Guillermo Rigondeaux to help the Cuban to trump Donaire.

Donaire, in his part, reiterated the importance of keeping the sport clean and insisted that he will ask Rigondeaux to take random drug testing with him if and when they are to fight. "I would like to do that, especially because people have been asking for it," Donaire told this scribe. "'Random' is good, so we can help clean boxing's reputation. If they want to request me to fight them, then I have a request for them to fight fair. It's an even trade," he added.
