Fringe junior middleweight contender Domonique Dolton stopped Ramon Barajas in the opening round Friday night at the Big Punch Arena in Tijuana, Mexico.

It was Dalton’s first fight since a fifth round knockout win over Salvador Tapia on Apr. 27, which also took place in Tijuana.

A barrage of punches stunned Barajas about midway through the round. Dolton followed Barajas closed the distance between the two fighters as Barajas backed up against the ropes.

Dolton threw a few combinations to the head, prompting the fight to be stopped, even though Barajas did not look visibly hurt. Time of the questionable stoppage was 1:59.

The 29-year-old Dolton, who resides in Detroit, improves to 21-2-1, 12 knockouts. Dolton’s two defeats as a pro have come against Justin DeLoach in 2016 and Jamontay Clark in September of 2017.

Barajas, a resident of Tepic, Nayarit, Mexico, falls to 12-17 2 NCs, 5 KOs.

Heavyweight Amir Alsaey, who was making his pro debut, stopped Jair Amaral (0-2) in the opening round.

Alsaey dropped Amaral twice, the final time from a barrage of punches to the head. After Amaral went down for the second time, the fight was stopped at 2:53.
