Dominique Crowder is ready to take the next step to be a legit prospect at 126 pounds.

He must get by Marlin Sims tonight at the Crown Reef Resort in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. The six-round bout will stream live on BXNG TV ($14.99, 6 p.m. ET/ 3 p.m. PT), which is a channel on the Vyre Streaming platform.

Crowder-Sims is a clash between unbeaten featherweights where the winner will take a decent step forward in a competitive division.

Crowder (7-0, 6 knockouts), who resides in Baltimore, Maryland, stopped journeyman Daniel Coronel in round 5 of his last bout on November 6. The fight came exactly two months after Crowder knocked out Michael Gaxiola in round 4.

Despite the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the 27-year-old Crowder fought four times in 2020. He is managed by Adam Glenn, CEO of Times Square Boxing.

“Dominique is facing a real next step in class, taking on another undefeated prospect in Sims,” Glenn told Boxingscene Thursday night. “With Dominique’s amateur background, ring savvy, and talent, we thought that he was ready to step up to this kind of challenge. After he wins on Saturday, he’ll be moving up to eight-rounders and we’ll just be looking to keep the momentum going with good, tough fights that showcase what a great prospect he is.”

Sims (8-0, 4 KOs), who resides in Minneapolis, Minnesota, last fought on March 13, defeating Kendrick Latchman by majority decision. The 28-year-old has yet to face a fighter with a winning record.

Another fighter managed by Glenn will also fight on tonight’s card.

Unbeaten junior welterweight Steven Galeano (5-0, 4 KOs) of the Bronx, New York will square off against Las Vegas’ Rydell Griffin (8-44-2, 2 KOs) in a six-round bout.

Also fighting on the Christy Martin Promotions card will be Shinard Bunch (11-1 1 NC, 10 KOs), who knocked out Dieumerci Nzau just two weeks ago. Bunch, who resides in Trenton, New Jersey, will face Charles Dubray (3-4, 3 KOs) of Hastings, Nebraska in a six-round bout.

Unbeaten heavyweight Roney Hines (9-0, 6 KOs) will square off against Dell Long (7-7-2, 4 KOs) of West Virginia in a six-round bout. Hines is originally from Cleveland, Ohio and now lives and trains in the Los Angeles area.
