Dmitry Pirog (20-0, 15 KOs), a former WBO middleweight champion of the world, is still not finished with his stagnating career. He gave a few tips about his possible future to Kubsport.ru. Pirog has been unable to overcome a reoccurring back injury.

“I’ll surely let you know officially if I’m finished with the sport. Right now I’m still recovering from a traumatic injury. I’m working diligently with a renowned specialist, who previously worked with Kostya Tszyu and Yevgeniy Kafelnikov (top Russian tennis player of the 90’s). If I recover and if I’m able to sustain those workloads and endure this physical pressure then I’ll definitely have another fight. I think I’ll fight next in the States; I’m aiming at the HBO date. Negotiations are under way now”, said Pirog.

Dmitry Pirog, 33, first came to stardom in July 2010, having stopped highly touted American prospect Daniel Jacobs in five rounds to capture a vacant WBO middleweight title. He has defended it thrice but vacated it due to the consequences of boxing politics. He was last seen in the ring two years ago, struggling to come back since then due to a chain of injuries.
