Caleb Plant vs. David Benavidez hasn't formally been announced, but that hasn't stopped both boxers from claiming that their showdown is signed, sealed, and delivered.

By and large, outside of Canelo Alvarez, both Plant and Benavidez are regarded as the two most skilled fighters in the entire super middleweight division. With the winner of their 168-pound clash ostensibly next in line to face Alvarez, and considering their long-running feud, countless names outside of their division are patiently waiting for the final outcome.

Dmitry Bivol, like many, will also be an intrigued observer. Although he has no intention of facing the winner, the Russian star views their upcoming bout as a mouthwatering one. In terms of who he believes will emerge victoriously, Bivol admits that his pick has a bit of bias attached to it.

Long before the 31-year-old would go on to capture a light heavyweight title, he spent numerous sparring sessions engaging in back-and-forth wars against Benavidez. Due to their somewhat close bond and the overall skills that Benavidez has displayed throughout the entirety of his career, Bivol is standing firmly in his corner.

“I think Benavidez,” said Bivol to ESNEWS when asked to pick a winner. “I like his style. I sparred him and I think he should win.”

Plant, having suffered the first defeat of his career at the hands of Alvarez in November of 2021, recently returned to the win column, violently taking care of business against Anthony Dirrell earlier this year.

As for Benavidez, after making quick work of David Lemieux, was given the choice to either face Jose Uzcategui, or move directly into a showdown against Plant.

An impetuous Benavidez welcomed the idea of taking on Uzcategui but officially signed his name on the dotted line to face Plant. While there has been no word on an actual fight date, Plant did reveal that he was given word from higher-ups that fans can expect to see them clash at some point in March.
