Dina Thorslund (16-0) added the vacant WBO female bantamweight title to her collection with a wide points win over Mexican Jassieth Noriega (27-5-2) yesterday (June 25) in Struer, Denmark.

Noriega was floored in the fifth and lost on scores of 99-90 on all cards.

Thorslund already holds the WBO female super bantamweight title.

On the undercard of this TK Promotion event, middleweight prospect Jakob Bank (3-0) outscored Serbian Novak Radulovic (12-6-1) over six that was scored 60-54 on all cards.

Super featherweight Payman Akbari (4-0) beat late sub Cristian Narvaez (16-29-6) in another six rounder. Narvaez was in it to survive and did so well but lost every round along the way.

At the Townsville Entertainment Centre, rugby star Sonny Bill Williams, 35-years-old, made a quiet return to the sport of boxing. He survived a knockdown in the second round to pick up another win on Saturday afternoon.

For Williams (8-0, 3 KOs), it was his first pro bout since 2015 with six round decision win over Waikato Falefehi (2-14).

Williams has only had two bouts since 2013 - which is the year he picked up a ten round decision win over former world champion Franscois Botha.

There was nearly no publicity for the comeback fight. Williams wanted a very 'under the radar' return to shake off a lot of rust.

The big fight for Williams would be a showdown with Paul Gallen, who earlier this month was stopped by heavyweight prospect Justis Huni in the tenth round.

Earlier in the year, Gallen demolished former world champion Lucas Browne with a first round stoppage.
