Alexander Dimitrenko watched the fight between Robert Helenius (17-0, 11 KOs) und Dereck Chisora (16-2, 9 KOs) for the vacant European title (EBU) at home.

“It was an entertaining fight of both boxers, but Dereck Chisora was the real winner last night - no doubt about it. The decision is definitely not ok. The spectators in Helsinki and all around the world have seen that Helenius was outclassed and unmasked round after round by Chisora," Dimitrenko just after the fight.

Dimitrenko (32-1, 21 KOs) got stripped of his European EBU title after he couldn´t defend it because of an injury and surgery on his left elbow in November.

"My relationship and my experiences as a champion with the EBU were and have always been absolutely excellent and fair. I cherish the EBU and the parent company WBC very much. I can well imagine that the EBU will responsible re-view the fight and reconsider the decision in Helsinki. Fairness, justice and a clear line is essential and indispensable for our sport worldwide - whoever promotes the fight!"

Within 120 days the new European Champion has to defend his title against Alexander Dimitrenko. In relation to the controversial decision and the possible injury of Robert Helenius – Dimitrenko looks very optimistically to his future.

“I'm very excited about 2012 and there´re big things ahead of me. My rehab was really good and I´ll be in great shape again soon. Together with my team we´ll be ready for all goals and challenges out there. I´m a man on a mission – this will be my year!”

Dimitrenko´s adviser Volker Michael Gruber added: “I congratulate both fighters for an exciting and amusing fight. I have to admit that Dereck was prepared very well and put on a real fight against the taller man. Helenius surprised me also. He was absolutely unable to compete with the smaller guy. The outcome and the decision are ridiculous! If it had been a really close fight and Helenius won it by majority decision – all would say ´ok it was a Sauerland card´. But it was not close at all and there´s no doubt about that Chisora won this one. I trust the EBU that they will do their best in the next couple of days. If there´s a real injury of Helenius hand, they´ve accept the 120 day appropriate time-limit for the defense against the real European heavyweight Champion Alexander Dimitrenko!”
