Boxing promoter Lou Dibella shot back at middleweight contender Peter "Kid Chocolate" Quillin for his public campaign to land a fight with middleweight kingpin Sergio Martinez.

In a video posted on Youtube (Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pndVwDyoj-4 ), the 28-year-old Quillin (25-0, 19 KO) from New York City took to the streets of Manhattan's Financial District to ask random people if they knew who Sergio Martinez was. Most did not, leading Quillin to assert that Martinez wasn't a big enough superstar to be out of reach for him to face.

Dibella, speaking at a press luncheon in New York City to promote the Andy Lee vs. Brian Vera rematch which will open up the HBO telecast of Martinez's defense against undefeated British contender Darren Barker on October 1 in Atlantic City, dismissed Quillin's credentials.

"I love Peter, but what the fuck has he ever done?," asked Dibella. "That was a wonderful win over a complete stooge in his last fight. I like Peter, he's a good guy and he happens to be my friend and I wish him the best. I think eventually he will fight for the middleweight title, but shut your mouth, be respectful and go beat somebody."

Quillin is promoted by Golden Boy Promotions and is coming off a win over late-replacement Jason LeHoullier in July.

Dibella laid down the path for Quillin to get to Martinez: Beat 18-0 (14 KO) WBO titlist Dmitriy Pirog.

"Peter Quillin, you fight Pirog and you win, we'll fight you," Dibella said.

When asked about matching his fighter Matthew Macklin (28-3, 19 KO) with Quillin, Dibella said it didn't make sense financially, adding, "Peter hasn't hit the point where he delivers a dollar to the table. I think he has the ability to be a champion but until he can bring money to the table, I'm not particularly interested in doing that fight."
