Montreal – A Purse Bid was held today at World Boxing Council (WBC) Headquarters in Mexico City, Mexico for the right to promote a WBC World Light Heavyweight Silver Championship title bout between former WBC 175 lb World champion Adrian “The Shark” Diaconu (27-2-0, 15 KO) from Romania/Canada and Chris “Hard Hittin’” Henry (25-2-0, 20 KO) from Houston, Texas.

It is with much pleasure that InterBox announces it won such bid with an offer of $70,000 USD. According to WBC rules, both Adrian Diaconu and Chris Henry will split the sum 50/50. InterBox was the only bidder present in Mexico.

Important to note is the fact that this bout is also a Final Eliminator, and the winner will automatically become the mandatory contender to current WBC Light Heavyweight champion Jean Pascal. Adrian Diaconu has fought Pascal twice with the WBC Title at stake, losing both times by unanimous decision in very exciting and entertaining fights.

Diaconu and Henry have already traded hostilities for the WBC Interim Light Heavyweight title on April 19th 2008 in Romania back when both fighters had undefeated records. Diaconu won that bout by Unanimous Decision and went on to be declared full WBC Champion.

“We are very happy to have won the bid today. We tried hard to come to terms with Team Henry during the free negotiation period but it all collapsed right before the bid. Maybe they believed this fight was worth more than what we originally offered them. This is an extremely important fight for Adrian, so we will be busy over the next few weeks studying where to best place this fight” states Groupe Sportscene/InterBox President Mr. Jean Bedard.

According to WBC rules, InterBox now has 15 days to inform the WBC of the location and date of the bout.
