Parañaque, PHILIPPINES- Dennis Laurente (47-5-5, 28KO) successfully defended his

WBC ABCO light middleweight title against Thai challenger Singdet Nonpitayakom

(11-16-1, 8KO) via 5th round KO.

Laurente wasted no time in attacking the overmatched challenger from the opening

seconds of round one. Laurente used his jab to set-up his trademark body shots

on the inside while Nonpitayakom boxed cautiously. Laurente had thrown damaging

left and right hooks to the body, but it was not until the 3rd round that

Nonpitayakom started to let his hands go.

Laurente was hitting the challenger at will with lead left hands in round 4.

Nonpitayakom would throw punches back but they wouldn't get past Laurente's shell

defense. Laurente's investment to the body paid dividends in round 5 when a hard

right hook to the body opened up Nonpitayakom's defense upstairs. Laurente

swiftly threw a left cross to the chin that floored the Thai challenger, who was

counted out by referee Virgilio Garcia at 2:57.

In the co-main event, Juan Martin "Bai" Elorde (15-1-1, 7KO) battled to a

technical draw against his toughest opponent to date, Chaiyong Sitsaithong,

(32-12-4, 23KO) to keep his WBO Asia Pacific super featherweight title.

Sitsaithong opened the round with frequent lead rights and 1-2 combinations

while Elorde jabbed and moved out of trouble. Elorde was more busy in round 2 by

throwing combinations but unfortunately incurred a cut on his right temple in

the middle of an exchange. Referee Danrex Tapdasan waived the fight off upon the

ring physician's recommendation.
