Doctors are predicting a long-term of rehabilitation for Russian heavyweight Denis Boytsov (36-1, 27KOs).

Back on May 3rd, the fighter, who lives in Hamburg, was found unconscious in a subway tunnel in Berlin. He had severe head injuries and there is still no determined set of facts on how he ended up there and what happened.

Some have blamed his former management and claimed they placed a hit on him, some have blamed the fighter and claimed he had issues with alcohol and some believe it could have been some type of physical confrontation with one or more people.

Boystov was hospitalized and underwent three operations. Due to the severe swelling of the brain, doctors placed him in an artificial coma for about seven weeks. In July, he was taken out of the coma and was transferred to a rehabilitation clinic.

Currently, his family is doing everything to get him back to a return to normal life as he continues to do better in a clinic in Hamburg.

His family is raising funds for his rehabilitation, said the athlete's wife Olga. The fighter is said be financially wiped out from the medical bills. Friends, family and business associates have been helping as much as they can.

"Our family is now having very difficult time and we need help. Doctors predict a long-term rehabilitation. The funds collected will go to the intensive rehabilitation procedures. We thank everyone for their support," said Olga.
