SES coach Dirk Dzemski has prepared his protégé, light heavyweight contender Adam Deines, for the biggest challenge of his life. In order to win on Saturday night in Moscow against the undefeated world champion Artur Beterbiev (15-0-0 (15 KOs), Deines will have to pull off a big upset.

Deines' goal during camp was to train with even more patience and calm, in order to prepare for delicate situations in the fight with Beterbiev, who has been inactive since 2019 when he unified the WBC, IBF titles with a knockout of Oleksandr Gvozdyk.

Deines (19-1, 10 KOs) had to stay patient in the last few months. After several delays, the man from Magdeburg is now finally facing the greatest task and opportunity of his boxing career.

After the necessary relocations due to the pandemic situation, plus one injury-related postponement and another delay due to Beterbiev getting the coronavirus, the contest will come off at Moscow's Megasport Palace.

The Russian authorities in Moscow have allowed a crowd of 6,000 to be present in the venue.

“The fight will not last the twelve round distance - either he catches me prematurely or I can surprise him! The fight will end with a big punch. I want to do exactly this and get the world title. I want to capture the world championship belt for SES Boxing, Germany and my family," Deines said.

Deines replaced IBF mandatory challenger Meng Fanlong of China, who has been unable to travel due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

For Beterbiev's part, the fight with Deines will satisfy the mandatory obligation to the IBF, but the Russian puncher will have to face Fanlong at some point in the future.
