Oscar De La Hoya offered his latest entreaty to Gervonta Davis to fight his charge Ryan Garcia.

The head of Golden Boy Promotions took to social media a couple of days after Garcia scored a sixth-round stoppage over Javier Fortuna in their 140-pound bout at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles. Garcia scored three knockdowns in a one-sided performance.

After the win, Garcia was not shy about calling out Baltimore’s Davis to a showdown. The two have been circling each other for the past two years but efforts to make a fight have been unsuccessful, largely because of promotional divisions.

Davis is backed by Al Haymon’s Premier Boxing Champions and Showtime, while Garcia is promoted by Golden Boy, which has an exclusive deal with DAZN.

De La Hoya has been adamant that a fight between Garcia and Davis should be a joint venture between Showtime and DAZN. Showtime head Stephen Espinoza, however, disagrees with that assessment, saying recently that “I don’t think that we need two platforms in this. I don’t. I think there are plenty of other ways that are fair to resolve this.”

De La Hoya kept up the rhetoric in his latest live session.

“The bottom line is we want to make the fight happen,” De La Hoya said. “Tank Davis, have your people call my people, or my people will call your people.

“It should be on Showtime and DAZN because they’re the broadcasting partners for each individual. It’s only fair. We can stage it in Las Vegas. It’s as easy as that.”

Even without network and promotional differences, a fight between Garcia and Davis would be difficult to make given how both fighters feel they are the A-side in a potential matchup.

The 23-year-old Garcia, moreover, stated after the Fortuna win that he has little desire to fight at 135 again, his normal division, and suggested that a fight with Davis should take place at 140 - which presents another issue in making the fight.

"I'm never going back down to 135, I'm going to stay at 140, I'm going to fight 'Tank' Davis, if he wants it, at 140," Garcia said. "And if he doesn't, then I'll go fight some 140-pounder.
