Golden Boy Promotions President Oscar De La Hoya has come out in defense of tonight's main event between WBC/WBA junior welterweight champion Danny Garcia and huge underdog Rod Salka. The card is taking place at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. De La Hoya has no problem with the big underdog receiving his once in a lifetime opportunity.

The WBA/WBC refused to sanction the fight for the titles, which is why it's a ten round contest being fought at a catch-weight of 142-pounds.

"The championship does not make a fight. Salka, the fact that people are underestimating him, is giving him a lot of motivation. He's thinking of doing something in boxing that many have done in the past - defeating the champion, the favorite, and there is a lot of pressure on Danny Garcia," De La Hoya said.

"I think Salka will give us a great fight, and he will give the fight of his life in that ring and those are the toughest fighters. The public, the people, the press is saying Salka will last one or two rounds, and maybe we will be surprised. There are many opponents who we think are going to be easy, and then on the night of the fight it is not what people think."
