Golden Boy Promotions President Oscar De La Hoya has continued to advise WBC/WBA junior middleweight champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (42-0-1, 30KOs) on what he needs to do in order to beat Floyd Mayweather Jr. (44-0, 26KOs) on September 14th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. De La Hoya fought Mayweather in 2007 and came very close to snapping Floyd's unbeaten streak. Mayweather won by way of a twelve round split decision.

"Floyd is not fighter who throws combinations, he fights maybe for about 25 seconds of each round. Maybe once per fight he throws some kind of combination. You have to apply pressure in the fight and do it in different ways. But the other day Canelo said he would box and and defeat him. Canelo will take it to another level. Canelo is learning and with every fight he looks better, faster, more complete, and he is in better physical and mental condition. He is young but mature, and on September 14 we will see the best of Canelo," De La Hoya said.
