Golden Boy Promotions President Oscar De La Hoya, who promotes Saul "Canelo" Alvarez, is very excited about the anticipated fight with WBC middleweight champion Miguel Cotto.

The stage was set on Saturday night, when Cotto scored a spectacular fourth round stoppage win over Daniel Geale at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. Last month in Texas, Canelo had a sensation knockout victory of his own when he stopped James Kirkland in three rounds.

The fight is going to be on HBO Pay-Per-View, and De La Hoya is happy about the fact that a Canelo-Cotto fight is guaranteed to produce fireworks and it won't command the high pay-per-view price tag of last month's PPV event featuring Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Manny Pacquiao.

"It really sets the table. The best thing about a fight like this being made, with Miguel Cotto and Canelo, is that people won't have to pay 100 dollars," De La Hoya told BoxingScene.com.

"There are no issues whatsoever [in reaching an agreement]. Both fighters want the fight. Everybody wants the fight, The beauty about this event, which is taking place later this year with Canelo-Cotto - and I'm very, very optimistic it can happen - is that the fans are guaranteed action."

As far as the date and venue, De La Hoya aims to begin those discussions next week with Roc Nation Sports, who promote Cotto.

"We're going to sit down with Roc Nation. We're going to sit down with Canelo and his team and decide on everything shortly. We're going to be doing that next week."
