Heavyweight contender David Tua (52-4-2, 43KOs) has parted ways with his United States-based boxing promoter of 10 years, Cedric Kushner. Tua said the split was amicable but that he felt it was time for a change as he continues his search for a second world championship title fight.

"I have nothing but good things to say about Cedric Kushner,'' Tua said. "I am thankful for all the things we have done together over the last few years but timing is everything and this is the right time for us to go our separate ways. My future is bright and after 20 years fighting professionally I am finally in sole charge of my career.''

Tua, who has set aside the next four years to "give everything'' to boxing, said he believed the decision to part with Kushner would help put him in a position to ``make some noise again'' in the heavyweight division.

"There is no middle man. I am in control of David Tua,'' Tua said.

Tua said he had fielded interest from a number of promoters and managers during recent weeks but he had made no decisions regarding his next fight.
