Showpony Promotions CEO Damian Michael has told WBN that a final decision will be coming very soon on whether British heavyweight champion David Price (13-0, 11KOs) will be featured on the Nelson Mandela Boxing Tribute event, which takes place on February 2 in South Africa.

Price, 29, has been offered the chance to fight 40 year-old American Michael Grant (48-4, 36KOs) at the event in Cape Town and could gain the chance to fight in front of a 30,000 capacity crowd expected to attend the huge night of boxing.

Michael believes that the fight between the two huge heavyweights is exactly what the card needs and is also hopeful of snagging more boxing stars past and present to the show to celebrate former president Mr.Mandela.

“We are awaiting (Price’s promoter) Frank Maloney’s decision this week,” Michael told World Boxing News.

“We think Michael Grant v David Price would be a real battle of the big men.”

Former two-weight world title holder Evander Holyfield has also been linked to a slot on the bill in a four-round exhibition contest as the 'Real Deal' remains hopeful of one final world title chance before retirement.

Other names are being touted for the bill, which at the moment is topped by native Chris Van Heerden’s IBO welterweight title defence against Briton Matthew Hatton.
