Super middleweight contender Vladimir Shishkin, who is inching close to an IBF title shot, is a very interested party in Saturday's fight between former world champions David Benavidez and Caleb Plant.

The two rivals will collide in the ring at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Benavidez's interim-WBC world title will be at stake.

As far as the outcome, Shishkin is leaning in the direction of Benavidez.

At the same time, he believes Plant has the right style and boxing ability to outbox Benavidez to a twelve round decision win.

“This is a great fight between two elite fighters in the division. I favor Benavidez, but Plant showed improvement after the Canelo fight and that means he is coming to win. I will not be overly surprised if Plant is able to score a points upset over Benavidez,” Shishkin said.

On the other hand, WBA 'regular' world champion David Morrell views it as a very close contest.

Morrell, who would love to face the winner, feels the contest is too close to call.

Despite Benavidez holding the clear edge in power and scoring knockouts in his last six fights, Morrell views the speed and boxing style of Plant as the perfect combination to neutralize those strengths.

“It's a 50/50 fight. Benavidez has power, but he has never fought against someone with moves like Plant, who will make life hard for him with his speed. I would love to pick a winner, but I just can't, considering how even this fight truly is,” Morrell said.

There is a realistic possibility that Morrell will collide with the winner of Benavidez vs. Plant.
