WBA interim-super middleweight champion David "King'' Morrell Jr. is looking for much bigger things in 2021 after capturing his first career title last year.

With only four pro fights with three knockouts on his record, Morrell is fast-tracking his career to a full championship.

The Cuban boxer captured the WBA strap in only his third fight last August with a twelve round unanimous decision over undefeated Lennox Allen.

Morrell saw action last month, when he dominated and stopped Mike Gavronski in three rounds at the Shrine Exposition Center in Los Angeles.

Right now the boxer is waiting to get his next date, with the coronavirus pandemic still raging forward.

"Thank God I didn't lose anyone close to me, but I know a lot of people suffered in the world. But I took ownership of a world title, I ended up with a good win in December. From that point of view, everything was very positive [for me in 2020]. We had a lot of plans in mind that couldn't happen," Morrell told George Ebro.

"I'd like to fight a lot [this year], I'd like to have a fight every month. Realistically, my prognosis for this year would be about four fights. A lot will depend on what my team thinks and what's best. [I know that holding a title will bring bigger challenges], but that doesn't overwhelm me. At first I was a little nervous, but now I know the kind of boxer I am and what I can do inside the ring. I'm also aware of what's missing, but I already feel comfortable in the ring, like a pro.

"I see myself in the top five [at 168]. I don't have to talk too much, just wait for my team to decide what fights they want to do in 2021. There are things to be improved, but I am convinced that at the end of the road I will always be among the elite."
