In a crossroads fight of tough Mexican junior middleweight contenders, the more durable David "The Destroyer" Lopez (41-13, 23KOs) won a ten round unanimous decision over Julio Cesar "Baby Face" Garcia (45-6, 38KOs) at the Gimnasio Auditorio Jorge Campos in La Paz, Baja California, Mexico. Neither the televised broadcast, the ring announcer or the promoter disclosed the actual scores of the judges but there was no disputing that Lopez won the fight.
