Scottish fighter David Brophy secured the win of his career after he stopped the previously unbeaten Zac Dunn inside seven rounds to win the Commonwealth super middleweight title.

The Caldercruix boxer , was imperious as he outworked and outfought Dunn in front of his stunned home supporters in Melbourne and he was a 5/1 underdog heading into the fight.

The 26-year-old has been on the road to recovery since losing against George Groves last April and this victory puts him back in the mix at European and world level.

Brophy said his team had put work in to pinpoint Dunn's weaknesses as they stunned the home fans at the city's Pavilion.

He told Australian TV: “I couldn’t be happier.

“With the work I’ve put in, I deserve this. Zac was tough, but we did what we were supposed to do. We watched a lot of Zac’s fights and he keeps his elbows up. When the body shots started landing, we knew it was going to be over early.”

Brophy (19-1-1, 3 KOs), a tough challenger,  was  coming off two consecutive victories after suffering his only loss to Groves April 9th of 2016.

Dunn (23-1, 18 KOs) is currently rated #5 by the WBC, IBF, and WBO and has become a big attraction in his native Australia consistently selling out his fights.  Dunn has fought his last 4 fights in his native Australia and has kept up a very busy schedule this being his 5th fight in a little more than a year's time.
