Former two-time WBC super middleweight champion David Benavidez (24-0, 21 KOs) is gearing up for a scheduled return on August 28th, when he faces another former champ, Jose Uzcategui.

In the near future, Benavidez would like to face his Premier Boxing Champions stablemate, WBC middleweight champion Jermall Charlo.

The two boxers have traded words in the past - with both expressing their confidence in a victory.

Benavidez believes a win over Charlo would make a fight with Canelo Alvarez an even bigger attraction down the line.

“This year, it would be Charlo [that I would want]. That’s a fight I want. Because Canelo, I know he’s got his own thing [with unifying the super middleweight division]. I believe in myself; I bet on myself; I double down on myself. I’d get Charlo, beat him, and then afterward, the fight between me and Canelo would be that much bigger," Benavidez told Little Giant Boxing.

“Can you imagine if I get past Charlo and stop him, me and Canelo would be huge. It would be big. I know what I bring to the table. I know what I’m capable of."

Benavidez was surprised that Charlo went the entire twelve round distance with recent opponent Juan Macias Montiel.

If they meet in the ring, Benavidez is confident in his ability to score a knockout victory over Charlo.

“I thought he was going to stop Juan Montiel, but that shows there are flaws in his game too. He’s talking about everybody else has flaws, but he has flaws of his own. He got a bad cut on his eye. He’s got his own eyes to worry about too," Benavidez said.

“I feel like I would [knock Charlo out]. It would be a great fight. I’m not saying it would be easy, but I know I can stop Charlo. Everybody else, I go for the knockout I for the kill against everybody. As the years go by, I’m getting stronger, and I’m excited for what comes in the future."
