Lerrone Richards will have to opportunity to be crowned European champion when he takes on Italy’s Giovanni De Carolis for continental bragging rights at 12st on May 15th at Manchester’s AO Arena.

Richards has long been knocking on the door of a huge opportunity and his trainer, Dave Coldwell, believes his man will be successful next month.

“He’s got so much ability,” said Coldwell during a quiet moment at his thriving Rotherham gym. “Now he has the opportunity to prove he belongs at a high level in the sport. Lerrone can do it all. He’s got all the moves and his skillset is so high. Now he has to realise the position he’s in. This fight can change his life and he’s got to go in there and give it his all.”

On De Carolis, Coldwell added, “He’s an experienced fighter who has proved himself at a high level throughout his career. He knows what to expect from this kind of level and he’ll want to make his experience count against Lerrone. I’ve got no doubt that Lerrone is the better fighter but now he has to take everything he has and show the world just how good he is. This could be a massive night for him.”
