Lightweight contender Dante Jardon is possibly one fight away from a world title opportunity.

For that to happen, he must get by a fighter who has not tasted defeat in almost four years.

Jardon risks his number one ranking by the WBC when he faces Francisco Rojo tonight at the Oasis Hotel Complex in Cancun, Quintana Roo, Mexico.

The 12 round bout will be a clash of fighters who reside in the Mexico City area.

Jardon (30-5, 23 KOs) knocked out former contender Nery Saguilan in his last bout on August 6. The 29-year-old has won his last six bouts.

Jardon fought for a world title belt as a junior lightweight, but was stopped by Takashi Miura in round nine in December of 2013.

Rojo (18-2, 11 KOs) has also won his last six bouts in a row, though he has not fought the level of opposition Jardon has fought. His most impressive win to date as a pro came in his last bout on September 24, when he defeated former world title challenger Eduardo Escobedo by majority decision.

Former World minimumweight titleholder Francisco Rodriguez Jr. (21-4-1, 14 KOs) will square off in a Hajime Nagai (14-7-2, 4 KOs) in a 10 round junior bantamweight bout.

In his most recent attempt a world title belt in July of 2015, Rodriguez lost a unanimous decision to then WBO light flyweight titleholder Donnie Nietes.

Rodriguez and Nagai have won their last three bouts in a row.

Both fights will air live on Televisa throughout Mexico.
