Lightweight contender Dante Jardon scored two knockdowns and went on to stop Nery Saguilan in the tenth round to retain his WBC International lightweight championship.

The 12 round bout took place at the famed Arena Coliseo in Mexico City, D.F., Mexico. Televisa broadcasted the fight live throughout Mexico, and Promociones del Pueblo promoted the event.

Jardon (30-5, 23 KOs), who resides in Mexico City, is ranked number two by the WBC. In his last bout on March 26, Jardon won a 12 round unanimous decision over two-time junior lightweight world titleholder Juan Carlos Salgado. Jardon has won his last five bouts.

Saguilan (37-7-1, 13 KOs) lost a one-sided 12 round decision to Marcos Villasana Jr. in his last bout on May 28 in Acapulco, Mexico. The loss snapped a 10-bout winning streak for Saguilan.

Saguilan's most impressive win on his resume is a close 12 round decision over DeMarcus Corley in August of last year.

Also fighting on the Promociones Del Pueblo card, lightweight Shoki Sakai (21-7, 13 KOs), who has won his last four bouts, lost an eight round majority decision to Luis Vidales Gutierrez (10-4, 5 KOs). The scores were 74-74, 77-75 and 78-74.

Both fighters reside in Mexico City.
