Auditorio Plaza Condesa, Mexico City, Distrito Federal, Mexico - Dante Jardon is now one step close to securing a shot at the super featherweight championship of the World Boxing Council, by dropping former champion Gamaliel Diaz three times before the fight was waved off in the eight round. Both Jardon (24-3, 20 KO's) and Diaz (37-11-2, 17 KO's) were looking to knock each other out in the from the start of the first round. In the fourth, a big right hand put Diaz down to the mat but the war continued. There was a bad clash of heads in the sixth, with Jardon taking some damage from the collision - and they continued to battle until Jardon stepped on the gas in the eight to scored two more knockdowns to close Diaz out.
