At the Arena Coliseo in the Federal District of Mexico, Daniela Bermudez (21-3-2, 6 KOs) pulled off an upset with a victory over the more experienced Mexican Mariana Juarez (43-9-4, 17 KOs) in a final world title eliminator for the world bantamweight championship of the World Boxing Council (WBC).

After an inauspicious start, the super flyweight world champion of the World Boxing Organization (WBO) - Bermudez - passed round to round and finished the fight while building to a great victory, which was completely sealed on the cards.

The scores were 97-93, 97-93 and 96-94 - all for Bermudez.

Bermudez, at age 27, is at the peak of her career and showed her worth with a solid performance to the demanding local audience, as she had done with the Japanese fans in the unforgettable knockout of local favorite Tomomi Takano in November 2015.

Bermudez still has the WBO super flyweight belt, and now has the opportunity to seek a world bantamweight title under the World Boxing Council (WBC).

For Juarez, the loss snapped a four fight unbeaten streak. She lost a decision last year to Naoko Fujioka of Japan - which snapped another four fight unbeaten streak.
