Daniel Sandoval may have put the proverbial final nail in the coffin of 44-year old Grady Brewer's career, dropping the middle-aged veteran three times en route to a third round knockout Saturday evening in Guadalajara, Mexico.

Signs of bad things to come were evident as early as the ring walk, when Brewer already bore the look of a beaten fighter. Once a veteran spoiler and the Season Two winner of the now defunct The Contender boxing reality series, the visiting Oklahoma native was in way over his head against a knockout artist nearly half his age.

Sandoval showed no mercy, going on the attack from the opening bell. Between slips and knockdowns, Brewer spent more time on the canvas than he did putting up a fight, at no point presenting Sandoval any reason to ease off the gas.

The badly faded American boxer was put out of his misery in round three, when Sandoval unloaded with both clips. Brewer was sent to the canvas for three official knockdowns before the referee stepped in to stop the brief yet lopsided affair.

The official time was 1:21 of round three.

Sandoval moves to 37-3-1 (34KOs), winning his second straight contest. Brewer (32-20, 16KOs) snaps a two-fight win streak, though perhaps a good thing as it created false hope of his having anything left in the tank.

In undercard action:

Local featherweight prospect Carlos 'Chuko' Diaz (17-0, 9KOs) remained unbeaten after forcing Ricardo Reyes to quit after three rounds of one-sided action. Reyes (14-4, 10KOs) has now lost three straight.

Jesus Macias (15-3-1, 7KOs) picked up his 10th straight win with a four-round shutout over Jose Luis Zuniga (4-4-2, 2KOs). Scores were 40-35 across the board.

All bouts aired via slight delay on beIN Sports Español in the United States and TV Azteca in Mexico.
