Jorge ¨Maromerito¨ Páez has put his career on the brink of retirement when he was knocked out in the second round by undefeated Argentine boxer Daniel ¨Eléctrico¨ Lemos in the main event fight at Club Huracán in Tres Arroyos province of Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Páez, 31, has had 9 defeats in the last eleven bouts he has sustained. This defeat could be the final nail in his coffin, after suffering several tough losses in recent years but this one was a complete wipeout.

Lemos (21-0, 11 KOs) started the aggressive fight without showing any type of respect for anything Paez (41-13-2, 24 KOs) could do. The Mexican boxer was passive, trying to measure the Argentine fighter for a big counter.

In the second round, Páez made a fatal mistake by wanting to to exchange punches, but a powerful left landed right on the button and it was Paez who went down very hard to the canvas. He managed to get up, but he was in poor condition and the referee decided to stop the fight.

While in the co-main event, Argentine Daniela Romina ¨Bonita¨ Bermúdez (25-3-3, 7 KOs) retained her WBO bantamweight world title by defeating Mexican veteran Irma ¨Torbellino¨ García (20-4-1, 3 KOs) by unanimous decision over ten rounds.

The scores of the judges were: 98-92 X3 all in favor of Bermúdez.
