UFC President Dana White put a full stop on a potential boxing match between company champion Kamaru Usman and Mexican superstar Saul "Canelo" Alvarez.

A few days ago, Usman expressed his desire to face Canelo in a crossover boxing match.

"To be honest with you, I’ll tell you what will really get the people going. When have you ever seen two pound-for-pound fighters in the world in their respective sports go at it? Who’s the pound-for-pound best boxer in the world right now? It’s not about money, it’s about what gets me out of bed, what gets me scared! I want the chance. I want to fight Canelo,” Kamaru told ESPN.

Both Canelo and Usman were in action on Saturday night, with each athlete headlining a major pay-per-view event.

Usman retained his UFC title when he defeated Colby Covington for a second time with a five round unanimous decision in the main event of UFC 268 at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

And Canelo made boxing history when he unified the entire super middleweight division, by knocking out Caleb Plant in the eleventh round to unite the WBC, WBO, IBF, WBA world titles at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

White was watching Canelo's Showtime pay-per-view fight while sitting cageside in  MSG - and he saw all that he needed to see - to shut down any talk of a Canelo vs. Usman boxing match.

“I watched the Canelo fight tonight,” White told MMA Junkie. “[Usman] don’t want to fight Canelo, he don’t want to fight Canelo. Come on, man. Let’s stop this sh!t. If Canelo wants to come over here, awesome fight. Those two put on an incredible performance [tonight].”
