At the Sleeman Centre in Chandler, there was a stunning upset when London Olympian Damien ‘Super’ Hooper was sensationally knocked out in just 21 seconds. Unheralded opponent Rob Powdrill, who had never seen Hooper fight before and whose plan was simply not to get beaten up, knocked the Olympic star and Commonwealth Games rep cold with one punch.

Powdrill dropped Hooper with his first right hand just 11 seconds into the fight and Hooper, a former Junior Olympics gold medallist, was counted out 10 seconds later. It was Hooper’s first loss in 10 pro fights. He turned pro after the London Olympics where he beat the American champion before losing in his second fight to the Russian gold medallist. Powdrill, a kickboxing veteran, now has a 4-1 record as a boxer.

"He caught me with a good right hand to the temple," said Hooper to Sunday Times. "I congratulate him on a good win. I'll have a little bit of time off and then get back into it..

Hooper's manager Matt Clark, told the paper that he believes his fighter will bounce back.

"That's boxing and it's all about how Damien bounces back from here," he said. "I've got faith in him."
