Dainier Pero didn’t waste anytime Saturday night.

The highly touted heavyweight prospect won his professional debut against Deane Williams via first round knockout. The fight was part of a nine fight card that took place at the Outlaw Saloon in Cheyenne, Wyoming.

Pero recently made the move to Las Vegas where he trains under the watchful eye of Bob Santos alongside his unbeaten brother Lenier Pero who is ranked #6 by the WBA in the heavyweight division.

The 23-year-old was a highly decorated amateur prospect who won several titles in the unpaid ranks.

“This is just the first step in the process of Dainier becoming a world champion,” Santos told BoxingScene.com.

“He may only be 23 but he will definitely be on the fast track as a professional. It is just a matter of time before both he and his brother become world champions.”

Pero represent his native Cuba in the 2020 Olympics that took place in Tokyo in 2021.  He was eliminated in the quarterfinals by eventual silver medal winner Richard Torres.

According to Santos, the plan is for Pero to be very active as he acclimates himself to the pro ranks.

“He will be back in the ring very soon. The sky is the limit and you are just seeing the tip of the iceberg,” said Santos.

Some of the other fighters of note who posted wins on the card are welterweight prospect Jaydon Virgil who improved to 10-0 with a knockout victory over Derek Perez and super flyweight prospect Jesse Rosales who is now 5-0 after his TKO win against Richard Morales.
