Dainier “The Fear” Pero (6-0) kicked off his 2024 campaign with a second round knockout victory over Joe Jones (14-0) on Friday night at the Caribe Royal in Orlando, Florida.

The fight took place on the Ashton Sylve-Estivan Falcao undercard which was streamed by DAZN. Sylve would go on to beat Falcao via a dominant unanimous decision.

A brutal right sent Jones to the canvas in the second round, ending the fight which was Pero’s first scheduled for 6 rounds.

According to Pero’s trainer, Bob Santos, the former Cuban standout will have a very busy 2024 campaign.

“Dainier keeps improving in the gym and you see the results in his fights. He are going to keep stepping up his level of competition,” Santos told Boxingscene.com.

“Box Lab Promotions is very happy with him and will keep him very active. He will be the most active heavyweight in the sport. Keep an eye out for him. He will be a world champion sooner than later.”

Pero was 4-0 with 2 knockouts in 2023 after making his pro debut in December 2022.

Pero is the younger brother of heavyweight contender Lenier Pero (10-0) who is ranked in the top 10 by the WBA.
