Dainier Pero (2-0) continues on the fast track tonight in San Antonio at the Alamodome when he faces Daniel Zavala (2-1-2) on the Rey Vargas-O’Shaquie Foster undercard. Pero fights under the Premier Boxing Champions banner.

In addition to Vargas-Foster, the televised portion of the card includes Mario Barrios-Jovanie Santiago and Pero’s older brother Lenier Pero opening up the broadcast against Ukraine’s Viktor Faust.

The younger Pero brother turned pro in December shortly after defecting from Cuba. He followed up his first round knockout of Deane Williams with another 1st round knockout against Benjerman Baker in January. Assuming he doesn’t suffer any injuries or cuts tonight, he is expected to continue his busy schedule.

“Dainier is only 23-year-old but has a lot of amateur experience. This kid is the real deal and will make a statement tonight in San Antonio,” his trainer Bob Santos told BoxingScene.com.

“It won’t be long before Dainier is in big fights. He will keep increasing his level of competition. He has all of the tools and mark my words, he is a future star.”

Pero participated in the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo. He was eliminated in the quarterfinals against Richard Torrez who would go on to win the silver medal.

His older brother Lenier is ranked #6 by the World Boxing Association.
