Dainier Pero (2-0) made quick work of Benjerman Baker (0-1) last night in Denver, Colorado. A straight left hand landed flush on Baker’s face, sending him to the canvas. The back of Baker’s head bounced off the canvas, causing the referee to immediately waive off the fight.

The 23-year-old heavyweight made his pro debut last month at the Outlaw Saloon. He stopped Deane Williams in the first round.

Pero represented Cuba in the 2020 Olympics. He arrived in the United States 4 months ago and trains in Las Vegas, Nevada under the guidance of world class trainer Bob Santos.

The plan is for Pero to have a very busy 2023 campaign and he is expected to return to the ring in the very near future.

Santos believes that Pero will be able to be fast tracked in the pro ranks.  He doesn’t believe it will be too much longer before Dainier is in title contention.

“Dainier has all the tools. Just like his brother,” Santos told BoxingScene.com.

“We are taking it fight by fight but believe me, it won’t be long before you hear his name mentioned among the best in the heavyweight division. He is a force to be reckoned with and very soon everyone will know his name.”

Pero’s older brother Lenier Pero (8-0) is also trained by Santos. He is ranked #6 in the WBA’s heavyweight rankings. He is scheduled to return to action next month.

Santos’ stable of fighters also includes Carlos Adames, Hector Luis Garcia, Erick Rosa, Mario Barrios, and several others.
