In January of this year at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, 31-year-old Ukrainian Vyacheslav 'Czar' Glazkov suffered his first career defeat in a fight for the vacant IBF heavyweight title against 29-year-old American Charles Martin.

Glazkov suffered a knee injury and could not continue the fight. The official result was a victory for Martin by way of a TKO in three.

After a thorough medical examination, it was revealed that Glazkov's knee was worse than expected: an anterior cruciate ligament rupture, bleeding in the joint cavity, as well as a number of other injuries.

A few days ago Glazkov underwent surgery and now he is undergoing the rehabilitation process.

"Two days ago I had an operation," Glazkov said. "The operation was conducted in the United States by a well-known surgeon Dr. Uribe. According to him, everything went well. Now of course the foot hurts and I'm taking painkillers, but everything is going according to plan. After a couple of days we can start rehabilitation. This is also a very important part of recovery. So we'll have to work hard. "

The boxer also noted that it is impossible to say for sure how long it will take him to make a complete recovery.

"Everyone is different," he said. -"Someone is rehabbing for three months and then they start full training, but when you have this type of injury it is better not to hurry. Ideally, you need about 10 months to fully recover."
