Super middleweight Daryl Cunningham was packing his clothing and ring attire for the trip from Detroit to Youngstown when he heard the news that Kelly Pavlik had pulled out of their ShoBox main event on Saturday night.

"I'm hurt. I'm disappointed," said Cunningham to BoxingScene.com. "Kelly knew he was going to sleep. He thought it was a tune-up. People don't know about The People's Choice, but I was going to knock him out."

Cunningham, a Detroit fighter who has fought his entire career almost exclusively in Michigan, was allegedly responsible for a fair amount of ticket sales for the bout in Youngstown.

Fans are guaranteed a refund from Ticketmaster.

"I had hundreds of people from Michigan making the trip--50 people in ringside seats," claimed Cunningham. "Now they've gotta go and get their money back? Stuff like that makes us look bad."

According to Cunningham though, Pavlik's team was trying to make him look bad, personally. The 36-year old claims that he had to undergo an unusual extensive physical testing on Monday at the request of Pavlik's team.

"Whoever in his camp was trying to find a way to say that Daryl Cunningham wasn't ready. If something would have come back negative, they could have said wasn't ready to fight, but they can't say that. The truth is out there."

Despite the cancellation, Cunningham hopes he'll get another crack at a big name, or eventually a titleholder.

"I wish Top Rank had me as one of their guys. I live a clean life, and I come to fight," said Cunningham. "I can't hold any anymosity. But it would have been good for me and my family."
