Former world champion Carlos "Principe" Cuadras, is preparing as never before, for his scheduled rematch with one of the pound-for-pound boxers in the current scene, Francisco “El Gallo” Estrada.

Cuadras is training hard at the Otomí Ceremonial Center, in the State of Mexico, with the aim of regaining the WBC super flyweight title from Estrada.

The rematch takes place on October 23 in Mexico City, with DAZN carrying the fight.

They collided back in September of 2017, with Cuadras (39-3-1, 27 KOs) winning a razor close twelve round unanimous decision.

All three judges had Estrada winning the fight by a single point, 114-113 - and the outcome was determined by the tenth round, when Estrada dropped Cuadras.

He then lost a ten round majority decision to McWilliams Arroyo.

Cuadras apparently had some issues in his life at the time and entered rehab. Since then, he's won three fights in a row and now wants his world title back.

He says his physical condition will be a key factor in winning the second fight.

Cuadras commented: “This is a fight that I have been waiting to get for some time and now that it's finalized that we're going to fight on October 23 in Mexico City, I must arrive there in great physical condition. Right now I have the opportunity to prepare at the Otomí Ceremonial Center, which has practically become my home.

“I’m going to correct some technical details from the first fight, which was perhaps why he took the win. That made the difference [in the fight], but now I have those things in mind to get the win.”

Cuadras indicated that throughout the year he has been in constant preparation despite the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. The Mexican veteran had to work out in a private gym in which he had certain limitations, but it was totally necessary to achieve his goal, which was to face Estrada again.
