World Boxing Foundation president Mick Croucher expects the WBF to win recognition as one of the top four sanctioning bodies within two years with Croucher buoyed by the recognition and respect gained by the heavyweight title fight between Bob Mirovic and Rob Calloway.

In an article in “The Fist”, a boxing magazine, writer Matthew Daniels says Croucher has “lifted the profile of the WBF since taking over the role as president in August 2004.”

The WBF has what was described as a “well-balanced executive committee” which includes respected Australian boxing figure Jack Rennie who was manager of former world bantamweight champion Lionel Rose who won the title from Japan’s Fighting Harada via a majority decision on February 27, 1968.

Croucher said that the hard work put in by himself and the committee “is starting to pay off.”  He noted that the WBF is up in every boxing website now and is “ gaining the recognition it once had years ago.”

Croucher said that the WBF champions are “starting to fill up and within a year we expect them all to be filled. We have just been voted the sixth best boxing body in the world and the way we are going now within a year or two we will be taking on the top four” which are generally regarded as the WBC, WBA, IBF and WBO.
