Here is what Baez had to say about his recent training camp, his upcoming matchup with Torres, and more.

On his recent training camp:

"I have been training non-stop with my coaches, former boxer Arturo Quintero, and Eriky Alvarez at the Relentless Boxing Gym in San Jose, California. When this opportunity came up, I jumped on it. For those who saw the last fight I lost, I just lost focus, I was winning the fight and got caught. I am a different fighter now and because of that loss, I'm ready to shock the world on fight night. I’m finalizing a great training camp and I’m hungrier then ever.

On his matchup with Ruben Torres:

"He is a good fighter, talented, and young. I have sparred with a lot of bigger fighters, especially when I go to Hayward, California to spar with elite pros. I am very familiar with the style he has, and he will have to be the best version of himself to be effective, as I have done countless rounds with various fighters to prepare for this fight. I have trained relentlessly for this fight, and I don’t expect this fight to go the distance.”

On what a win will do for his career:

"A win changes my life. I am in a position in boxing right now where I must come out victorious. I need to win to continue my dream of being a world champion. I have been out of the ring for some time, and this is a big moment for me to take a chance and skip the line to get back to where I once was. I am taking a big risk because I want the reward. A win here puts me back on television, and closer to fighting for in a world title eliminator."

On fighting for Thompson Boxing:

"I am thankful to Thompson Boxing for their professionalism and how they have treated me as a fighter thus far, as well as putting me in the main event spot against their top fighter. They have put forth world-class boxing events for years, and to get a chance to headline a show is a major deal no matter who it is against. I am ready to perform and entertain the fans, the hard part is nearly over, we're getting close to what I love to do, which is fight."
