Craig Glover will face a step up in his next fight.

The cruiserweight (8-1, 7 KOs) scored a showreel stoppage in his last outing.

Glover, 25, took out Ratu Latianara inside 30 seconds at the ECHO Arena back in April, before ending the challenge of Kevin Williams inside a round in July.

The Tony Bellew-managed puncher will be forced to add to his game when he gets back in the ring on October 13.

He has been added to the supporting cast of Robbie Davies Jr’s vacant British super-lightweight title challenge against Commonwealth champion Glenn Foot at the Metro Radio Arena in Newcastle.

As part of the Sky Sports-aired bill, promoted by Eddie Hearn and Matchroom Boxing and topped by Lewis Ritson’s vacant European lightweight title clash against former Sean Dodd foe Francesco Patera, ‘The Real Deal’, who has left George Vaughan, Derry Mathews and Gary Thornhill and is now trained by Joe McNally and John Gillies at the Four Corner Combat Gym in the city, will take on Simon Vallily over 10 rounds in a clash that will double up as a title eliminator.

“It’s a big fight for me, this, but it’s been a long time coming and I’ll be more than ready come fight night,” Glover told Boxing Scene. “They will be looking at me as a stepping stone and will believe that I will be their springboard to bigger and better things.

“But there is no turning back for me after this one and it’s onwards and upwards. You only get one chance in this game and I felt like I needed a change and a bit of fresh impetus and that’s what I’ve got now that I’m with Joe and Gillies.

“I’ve been talking about needing a step up in class for a while now and I’ve finally got it and, thanks to [Tony] Bellew and [promoter] Eddie Hearn, I’ll be able to show everyone exactly how good I know I can be.”

Vallily, a Commonwealth Games gold medal winner of eight years ago, has a paid record of 13-1-1 with four early.

The Middlesbrough man last scored a split draw against English cruiserweight champion Arfan Iqbal at the same venue back in June, when Ritson drilled Paul Hyland Jr. inside a round to claim the British lightweight title outright.

“I think this fight will be an eliminator for the English title,” Glover added. “He boxed for it and he threw the fight away by running out of gas. He didn’t just take his foot off the gas, he ran out of energy completely and that will ultimately play into my hands.

“I know he’s a good fighter, there’s no denying that, and I’m sure he’ll look good in parts in this fight, but I believe that once I have started to land and when I put the pressure on him, he’ll crumble in front of me.

“I’ll take whatever shots he has and throw right back at him and once he’s been beaten by me his title aspirations are gone. If he can’t win an eliminator for the English title, where can he go?

“I’m confident I’ll be able to do a job on him and then move on to the next level and, sooner or later, get a title around my waist.”

There's action elsewhere on the card from IBF European super-bantamweight champion Thomas Patrick Ward, cruiserweight Lawrence Osueke and super-welterweight Joseph Laws, while David Allen returns after his July victory over Nick Webb, WBA International light-heavyweight champion Joshua Buatsi is back and Scotland’s Commonwealth Games bronze medallist John Docherty will make his professional debut.
